This position is responsible for supervision of the Legal Administrative Assistant, Psychologists, Recovery Plan Coordinators, and oversight of the psychology residency, internship, and/or practicum training program.  He/she provides leadership in forensic assessment and treatment, recovery planning, and behavior management.


Treasure Coast Forensic Treatment Center (TCFTC) in Indiantown, is seeking part time and full time licensed psychologists. TCFTC is a 224-bed, maximum security, private, forensic mental health treatment facility operated by Correct Care Recovery Solutions, LLC under a contract with the State of Florida's Department of Children and Families (DCF). TCFTC serves men committed by Florida circuit courts as Incompetent to Proceed (ITP) or Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI). ITP residents receive competency-focused treatment to enable their return to court for legal adjudication, whereas, NGRI residents receive risk management treatment to facilitate their discharge to a less restrictive setting.


Psychologists serve as active members or consultative members of a multidisciplinary Recovery Team, and are responsible for providing competency to stand trial evaluations, violence and suicide risk assessments, clinical interventions, and supervision of doctoral interns and post doctoral residents, among other tasks. Strong writing skills are a must as writing reports to the Court comprises a large portion of the psychologist's responsibilities. Experience in forensic/correctional/inpatient settings is highly preferred.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all recovery planning processes with assistance from the Lead RPC. Ensures that recovery plans are completed and updated in a timely manner.  Monitors the progress of recovery plans, provides ongoing training and corrective action as needed.
  • Assigns and supervises all forensic assessments and competency restoration activities that are conducted by the psychology trainees. Reviews subset of all court reports from the facility for accuracy and format before these are sent to the court.  
  • Serves as a consultant to the multidisciplinary teams.  Provides training to the teams on competency restoration, recovery planning and other forensic topics.  Ensures Recovery Plans are completed in accordance with TJC, DCF and all rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervises the Forensic Psychologists, Recovery Plan Coordinators, and Peer Support Specialists.  In addition, supervises and trains the psychology students, interns, and residents.
  • Actively works to ensure appropriate utilization of resources, including disposition of individuals who are unlikely to be restored to competency and residents appropriate for step down to less restrictive settings. Leads the Disposition Board.
  • Provides psychological evaluations, including forensic/competency evaluations and reports to the court, as well as admission assessments, psychological testing, and HCR-20v3. May assume these duties for one 16 bed unit.
  • Oversees the development and modification of behavioral management plans.
  • Ensures compliance with Department of Children and Family (DCF) policies and The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (TJC) standards related to Psychology Services.  Takes a lead in performance improvement activities and corrective action plans related to forensic assessment and treatment activities. Serves as lead representative of the facility to forensic community services and courts. Provides expert testimony to the court.
  • Is sensitive to cultural diversity issues, treats patients as individuals, and considers the culture of the patient when providing care and treatment.
  • Is knowledgeable about care and treatment needs of patients of different ages.  Provides individualized care and treatment that is consistent with/sensitive to the age and life span developmental needs of each patient.  
  • Continues professional development through in-service education, workshops, conferences and self-study necessary to maintain current knowledge applicable to the position.
  • Compliance in all mandatory Human Resources requirements.   
  • Other related duties



  • PhD. or Psychology PhD. in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university.
  • Three (3) years of mental health, forensic, supervisory and administrative experience is required
  • Current license as a Psychologist in the State of Florida are required.
